History and Development of Oil, Gas, and Agriculture in Alberta
Eckville Elementary School is a small rural school with many diverse needs. We are a kindergarten to grade 6 school with approximately 160 students. Our range of students include all socioeconomic groups from low income/no income to high income.
Our students, teachers, and staff are very excited to work with Trickster Theatre in the 2017-18 school year to put on our show on History and Development of Oil, Gas and Agriculture in Alberta.
We greatly appreciate your help and look forward to sharing our finished work with you!

Full Project Summary
Eckville Elementary students will work with the artists from Trickster Theatre to create a performance including all students. The demographic area the school resides in is rich in oil and gas and agriculture activities. Many of our students parents work in one of these career fields. The theme we are exploring for this residency is the History and Development of Oil, Gas and Agriculture in Alberta.
We will look at: the discovery of oil in Alberta; the boom and bust cycles; the history of reparations to the land; the development of farmland; the history of farming machinery from horse and plow to tractors; and the future of Alberta’s resources and their effect on the people, the land, and the economy.

Project Outcome
In exploring the History and Development of Oil, Gas and Agriculture in Alberta, our students will get a better understanding of the resources that are local to where they live. Many of our students parents work in oil and gas so this will allow them to understand the hard work and dedication their parents put into their careers. We will have people come in that work in these fields. This will give students a first hand account of pride, joy, and hardships of these careers.

How to create projects
Only a school site admin can set up new projects. Ask you teacher to get help in setting up a project page. Once set up you can write blog articles to support your project.
New Projects can be of many types: an event, a take action project, a study, or a Trickster Residency.
