First Light Initiative

Please help us support the First Light Initiative in order to raise money for telescopes for First Nations Schools in Alberta.

  • Full Project Summary

An entire class that failed Grade 9 math had four different teachers come and go from the classroom.

Rundown schools in dire need of repair.

Schools that receive about half of the per-student funding of public schools because they’re on First Nations reserves.

Abysmal rates of high school graduation and post-secondary achievement for Canada’s aboriginal peoples.

Schools serving aboriginal students on reserves need equal funding to public schools and funding stability.

First Light Initiative aims to help solve these inequities but placing telescopes in underfunded First Nations Schools across Alberta.  Please help us by supporting the cause.

  • Project Outcome

We would like to raise $3141.59 (Pi x1000) for telescopes to get our peers excited about science and use tools they might not be able to afford given the inequities in our school systems and funding.
