Discovering Literary Genres Through Story Writing and Movement

Ermineskin Elementary School offers a quality Grade 1 to 6 education to the children of Maskwacis. We serve approximately 479 students who come from all the 4 Cree Nations. We have 2 special education classes, but we integrate the majority of our 120 special needs coded students.

Our students, teachers, and staff are very excited to work with Trickster Theatre in the 2017-18 school year to put on our show on Discovering Literary Genres Through Story Writing and Movement.

We greatly appreciate your help and look forward to sharing our finished work with you!

  • Full Project Summary

Ermineskin School’s theme for our residency with Trickster Theatre will be “Discovering Literary Genres Through Story Writing and Movement”.

We intend to explore different literary genres such as mystery, science fiction, historical fiction, romance, etc. by creating our own stories and energizing them with movement.

These stories will link the teachings of our Elders together with Leader in Me principles that we have been learning about.

  • Project Outcome

We work really hard to engage our parents in school activities. We believe this project will do just that. We have seen how Elders and community members, as well as parents, want to be involved and want to see their children succeed. When parents can see their children engaged and excited by learning, we know it’s going to have a great impact.

  • How to create projects

Only a school site admin can set up new projects. Ask you teacher to get help in setting up a project page. Once set up you can write blog articles to support your project.

New Projects can be of many types: an event, a take action project, a study, or a Trickster Residency.

  • What is Trickster Theatre

Trickster Theatre hosts weeklong residencies in Alberta schools. We help create an original show with up to 500 actors - on any theme. We provide the lights, curtains, sounds, costumes, and more!
