All About the Farm

Cremona School is a K-12 school on the southern end of rural Mountain View County. The school has celebrated over 55 years on this site.  It has always been, and continues to be a small community school with a big community spirit.

Our students, teachers, and staff are very excited to work with Trickster Theatre in the 2017-18 school year to put on our show All About the Farm.

We greatly appreciate your help and look forward to sharing our finished work with you!

  • Full Project Summary

Cremona School will celebrate our community farming and ranching history and the impact it has made on our village and the surrounding area.

To bring that reality close to home and into the hearts and minds of our students, they will choose specific topics within this theme to create original performances for the school, parents, and community.  Each class will create a performance piece that will explore a different facet of our theme. We will be looking at why our ancestors chose to settle in this area, the history of machinery on farms, how animals help in our day to day lives, how technology has improved our well-being, and how our homes have changed over the past 150 years.

  • Project Outcome

Overall, as a school and community, we are expecting that all of our stakeholders will have the opportunity to be fully immersed in the artistic realm for an entire week. This artistic realm encompasses so many areas: drama, art, filming, photography, story writing and storytelling. All these areas will provide a different way for our staff and students to problem solve and approach curriculum while keeping our community members connected to our school. The access to production-specific technology will give students hands-on practice which they cannot regularly access. It will continue to enhance our school and community in years to come by initiating interest in sound creation, video editing and stage production. Students will get hands-on experience in making the show, implementing sounds clips that fit the dialogue and seeing how lighting can change the atmosphere. This will also be incorporated into making the essay videos, where students will perform their essays in front of the camera. We are truly looking forward to having the opportunity to build and enhance our technology skills.

  • How to create projects

Only a school site admin can set up new projects. Ask you teacher to get help in setting up a project page. Once set up you can write blog articles to support your project.

New Projects can be of many types: an event, a take action project, a study, or a Trickster Residency.

  • What is Trickster Theatre

Trickster Theatre hosts weeklong residencies in Alberta schools. We help create an original show with up to 500 actors - on any theme. We provide the lights, curtains, sounds, costumes, and more!
