7 Leadership Qualities of Great Canadians

G.H. Dawe Community School is located in Red Deer, Alberta, a community of approximately 100,000 people in Central Alberta. G.H. Dawe Community School is located in a low income area where only 69% of our parents have completed High School. Because of this many of our parents struggle to assist their children and advocate for them.

Our students, teachers, and staff are very excited to work with Trickster Theatre in the 2017-18 school year to put on our show on 7 Leadership Qualities of Great Canadians.

We greatly appreciate your help and look forward to sharing our finished work with you!

  • Full Project Summary

G.H. Dawe students will be focusing on finding Canadians and Albertans that exemplify the qualities of curiosity, hope, gratitude, enthusiasm, self control, respect and grit.

These character traits are part of the ongoing Character Education that was instituted three years ago at our school. G H Dawe Community School is 49% academics and 51% character because we believe the infusion of character education into our lessons is key to helping our students to, and through, college. Students who develop traits such as grit and curiosity are more likely to love learning and stick with it, even when the work gets hard. Grit, enthusiasm, and self-control predict student success more than academics.

  • Project Outcome

As a result of this residency program, students will be more knowledgeable about famous Albertans and Canadians, their histories and their strengths. We also expect that the people students learn about will be motivating to them in their own lives; reinforcing the strengths that we have been teaching as a different way to integrate the significance of character education.

  • How to create projects

Only a school site admin can set up new projects. Ask you teacher to get help in setting up a project page. Once set up you can write blog articles to support your project.

New Projects can be of many types: an event, a take action project, a study, or a Trickster Residency.

  • What is Trickster Theatre

Trickster Theatre hosts weeklong residencies in Alberta schools. We help create an original show with up to 500 actors - on any theme. We provide the lights, curtains, sounds, costumes, and more!
