Our school is a part of Peavine Metis settlement and the Metis Cultural Studies Program at our school is incorporating units on Métis History, Dance, Community, Art’s & Crafts. This year the historical and cultural components of the Metis Studies program will be one of our focuses across the curriculum. Both Cree and english are spoken/taught in the school.

Up to 1982, Bishop Routhier School was a four classroom school. In 1982, major renovations were made, and a kitchen, gymnasium, utility room, storage room and two offices were added onto the original building. Each existing classroom was renovated and refinished. In the following years three portable classrooms were added, landscaping work was completed and playground equipment was constructed.

In the fall of 2000, major structural and foundational problems were detected at Bishop Routhier School. Fortunately, the community of Peavine was chosen as one of the places nominated and awarded a new school. In April 2010 we relocated to the new facilities and completed the 2009 - 2010 school year in a modern fully functional school. The current school year will be our 6th full year in the new facility.

Kids Go Global - Explore, Act, Inspire.

Kids Go Global is a place for Elementary, Junior and Senior High schools to explore Global Issues and then work alone or with NGOs to take action locally and internationally. It also supports students acting out the issues using theatre and provides opportunities to share student work and projects. It is a partnership between schools, NGOs and Trickster Theatre.
