Trickster Theatre’s Literacy Research Initiatives

Apr 17, 2017 | DEVELOP | Photo: Students at Bowcroft Elementary School in Calgary, Alberta

In conjunction with the Calgary Board of Education (CBE), Rocky View School Division and literary specialists from both school boards, we are in the midst of testing the Trickster Theatre process as a story-writing engine!

Combined with the use of theatre, Trickster Theatre’s story boards will be applied and evaluated for their effects on student’s story writing skills. Stories will be written by the participating students of five classes both pre- and post-workshop, randomly selected, and blindly evaluated by a variety of educators. Here are just a few photos from our literacy work at Bowcroft Elementary.

Kids Go Global - Explore, Act, Inspire.

Kids Go Global is a place for Elementary, Junior and Senior High schools to explore Global Issues and then work alone or with NGOs to take action locally and internationally. It also supports students acting out the issues using theatre and provides opportunities to share student work and projects. It is a partnership between schools, NGOs and Trickster Theatre.
