Through My Grandmother’s Eyes

St. Mary’s Catholic School is a rural kindergarten to grade 9 school located 30 minutes west of Grande Prairie.  Our current enrollment is 190 students.

This year, our students will work with professional artists from Trickster Theatre on our production “Through My Grandmother’s Eyes”.

We greatly appreciate your help and look forward to sharing our finished work with you!

  • Full Project Summary

St. Mary Catholic School will explore the theme Through My Grandmother’s Eyes, which will help the students understand the lives of their ancestors. We will research the differences between then and now to gain an understanding of the hardships of their time, and an appreciation for the life we live now.

  • Project Outcome

This 5-day residency focusing on the theme Through My Grandmother’s Eyes allows children the chance to grow in confidence, develop an understanding of our culture and promote acceptance between people. Students will develop an awareness and understanding of Canadian history, the uniqueness of acceptance that Canada represents, and the development of the birth of a nation. They will be engaged in a number of activities that promote Canadian spirit. They will build confidence and develop skills in the performing arts by developing skills in dancing, singing, and acting. The 5-day residency will be a celebration of learning about this great country over the course of the month prior, culminating in the residency week and final performance.

  • How to create projects

Only a school site admin can set up new projects. Ask you teacher to get help in setting up a project page. Once set up you can write blog articles to support your project.

New Projects can be of many types: an event, a take action project, a study, or a Trickster Residency.

  • What is Trickster Theatre

Trickster Theatre hosts weeklong residencies in Alberta schools. We help create an original show with up to 500 actors - on any theme. We provide the lights, curtains, sounds, costumes, and more!
