The Many Faces of Cochrane and the Canadian Identity

Students at Elizabeth Barrett Elementary School will work with professional artists from Trickster Theatre to create an original performance.

The Many Faces of Cochrane and the Canadian Identity

Elizabeth Barrett School is a K-4 school in the Town of Cochrane, a community just west of Calgary. We currently have a student population of 605 students.

  • Full Project Summary

Elizabeth Barrett Elementary is examining the history of Cochrane as our focus. We will invite the community into our learning and share our digital artifacts with local historical societies. We will engage our community members to share their expertise with us, in relation to the early days of our Cochrane community.

  • Project Outcome

Not only will this strengthen connections between our school and the community and local First Nations, but will give students a deeper understanding of their local history and pride in their community, inspiring these future citizens and leaders of Cochrane.

  • How to create projects

Only a school site admin can set up new projects. Ask you teacher to get help in setting up a project page. Once set up you can write blog articles to support your project.

New Projects can be of many types: an event, a take action project, a study, or a Trickster Residency.

  • What is Trickster Theatre

Trickster Theatre hosts weeklong residencies in Alberta schools. We help create an original show with up to 500 actors - on any theme. We provide the lights, curtains, sounds, costumes, and more!

Kids Go Global - Explore, Act, Inspire.

Kids Go Global is a place for Elementary, Junior and Senior High schools to explore Global Issues and then work alone or with NGOs to take action locally and internationally. It also supports students acting out the issues using theatre and provides opportunities to share student work and projects. It is a partnership between schools, NGOs and Trickster Theatre.
