Resiliency - Residency

During this 5-day residency, the students at Spirit of the North Community School will work with professional artists from Trickster Theatre to create an original performance for their family, friends, and community members.

Resiliency - Residency

Spirit of the North Community School will host Trickster Theatre as a part of a bigger plan to truly enhance the climate and culture of our school. Each year, a theme book is chosen for our school, which is shared with students and parents the first weeks of school. This book drives the “theme” of that school year.

These activities will be the means by which our students research and discuss resiliency. From this understanding students will generate sub-themes and topics for our Trickster residency; allowing the theme book program to feed directly into the residency with the public production a final celebration of our year long growth.

  • Project Outcome

This resiliency theme will be utilized on our morning announcements and in school assemblies. Our main objective by making resiliency a year-long focus for our school is to help our students find their own capacity for resiliency and to give them role models, tools, and techniques to help them face obstacles and challenges in their own lives. For the significant portion of our students who are FMNI and Filipino, we feel strongly that the more resources they have to combat potential struggles and difficulties could have a significant impact on their futures and the future of our Northern community.

  • How to create projects

Only a school site admin can set up new projects. Ask you teacher to get help in setting up a project page. Once set up you can write blog articles to support your project.

New Projects can be of many types: an event, a take action project, a study, or a Trickster Residency.

  • What is Trickster Theatre

Trickster Theatre hosts weeklong residencies in Alberta schools. We help create an original show with up to 500 actors - on any theme. We provide the lights, curtains, sounds, costumes, and more!
