FNMI Legends

The City of Camrose is small urban centre 100 kilometers southeast of Edmonton with approx 18,000 people. There is a sense of city with a rural way of life. We are the only Catholic primary school in the City of Camrose. We have an expected school population of 430 students for the 2017-2018 school year.

Our students, teachers, and staff are very excited to work with Trickster Theatre in the 2017-18 school year to put on our show on FNMI Legends.

We greatly appreciate your help and look forward to sharing our finished work with you!

  • Full Project Summary

St. Patrick School is working on a legacy project that blends together two themes: Canada 150 and First Nations. As a primary school we want to develop a deep understanding of Canada’s history specifically within the context of First Nations people.

To make it developmentally appropriate for this age group we came up the the theme of Legends. As a school community, we will need to discover and create legends of the area, of the land, of the people, of the animals and of the sky. The students will develop a rich understanding of the local history through the development of Legends.

  • Project Outcome

Our students will explore the theme Legends during our residency project. They will learn about local legends of the land, of the people, of the animals and of the sky. Our students will learn about the FNMI people in our area in order to have our students understand and honour their culture.

  • How to create projects

Only a school site admin can set up new projects. Ask you teacher to get help in setting up a project page. Once set up you can write blog articles to support your project.

New Projects can be of many types: an event, a take action project, a study, or a Trickster Residency.

  • What is Trickster Theatre

Trickster Theatre hosts weeklong residencies in Alberta schools. We help create an original show with up to 500 actors - on any theme. We provide the lights, curtains, sounds, costumes, and more!
