The Kids Cancer Care Foundation of Alberta provides safe, quality camp experiences for young people and their families affected by cancer. Our free weekend and summer camps offer kids across Alberta a chance to escape the rigours of cancer treatments for outdoor fun and adventure. Our camps are designed to meet the needs of the whole family at each stage in the cancer journey—from diagnosis through treatment and beyond.
We are asking for your help to help raise funds to send kids with cancer to camp! A coin drive is a collection of coins from those in your community (family, friends, classmates) to help those in need. At the end of the coin drive you can donate the money raised to Kids Cancer Care.
Kids Cancer Care’s Community Initiatives team is here to help you organize a successful fundraising event. Please contact us early, so we can help. Feel free to email Jill at firstname.lastname@example.org for support.
Full Project Summary
Kids Cancer Care is a charitable organization that strives to build bridges of hope and pillars of support for families fighting childhood cancer. Our mission is to help kids with cancer on their journey giving comfort and support, help and hope, when they need it most. We accomplish this by offering camp and community programs to our families.
Camp benefits the children by allowing them the opportunity to get a break and just be normal children. They have the chance to be around other children who understand what they are going through or have been through. In 2012, over 500 children attended camp programs with Kids Cancer Care.
We are asking for your help to help raise funds to send kids with cancer to camp. You can support our camp program by holding a coin drive at your school. The funds used from your school’s Coin Drive will be used to send children with cancer to camp. The cost to send a child to camp is approximately $1000 per week per child.
Information for Educators
Cancer is a frightening and lonely experience for kids. Our camps offer children a chance to escape the rigours of cancer treatment for days of fun-filled adventure with kids their own age. After months of bedridden isolation, children at camp soon discover they are not alone. At camp, they find friendship and new reserves of confidence and strength - along with a healthy dose of mischief, laughter and fun. Children return home budding artists, hikers, actors, rafters, swimmers, naturalists, singers, dancers, mountain bikers and climbers. But most importantly, they come home smiling.
The funds used from your school’s Coin Drive will be used to send children with cancer to camp. The cost to send a child to camp is approximately $1000 per week per child.
