Sister Mary Phillips has been recognized as one of the top 25 schools in Canada for its work in community engagement, as well as winning the Garfield Weston Award for improvement in academics. We at Sister Mary Phillips School are committed to fostering the development of responsible lifelong learners. We believe in a positive school environment and climate that focuses on cooperation, responsibility, personal growth and enthusiasm for learning.
Our name is from Sister Mary Phillips, a visionary who saw the spiritual, social, and cultural needs of all people. She taught in public schools with a strong emphasis on home visiting, operated small rural hospitals, provided immigration services at the ports of entry to Canada, and established hostels in the major cities across Canada. Sister Mary Phillips was a teacher in Fort McMurray Catholic Schools for many years and devoted her life to provide education to many children in our region.
